The UFC announced a fight night event will be held at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk / Sopot on October 21, 2017. The event will be broadcasted live around the world which is fantastic news for the Tricity.
The event will be a sell out and will attract UFC fans from all over Europe, great news for local businesses.
The UFC
UFC is the worlds biggest MMA brand and this will be the first time they have held an event in Poland since April 2015.
Since Joanna Jędrzejczyk won the strawweight belt back in 2015. UFC has gained popularity across Poland. Fans will be hoping she makes an appearance in Gdansk. Personally I’m hoping we see ‘The Polish Princess’ Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who is currently ranked #2 in the strawweight division, take a fight at the event in her home country.
Ergo Arena
The Ergo Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena, that was opened in 2010. The boundary between two cities – Sopot and Gdańsk – runs through the very middle of the hall. The arena has a capacity of 11,409 people, for sports events and up to 15,000, with standing places, for concerts.
