How to spend the weekend in Tricity? – It is a series of articles on Tricity News. We publish information about upcoming events for each weekend. From a great variety of different events happening in the area every week, we are choosing those which in our opinion are the most interesting for foreigners in the area. Here are our ideas for the weekend of 15-17 March.
Whole Weekend
Running will dominate Gdynia this weekend. Gdynia Half-marathon 2019 has its climax on Sunday with a 21,097 km run. The event has a lot of side attractions like Fit Living Expo in Gdynia Arena on Friday and Saturday. Near the starting line at Kosciuszko square, the visitors will enjoy many activities for the whole families. This however also means some problems in commuting as the main streets in the center of Gdynia will not be available for cars on Sunday from 11:00 am to around 2:00 pm. Throughout the weekend, the Musical Theatre in Gdynia will show „the Witcher” based on Sapkowski’s book. Friday and
The Baltic Opera in Gdansk presents a new show “Thaïs” by Jules Massenet. There will be three performances of the spectacle starting from Friday at 7 pm. The opera will repeat the show two more times during the weekend. The tickets in prices starting from 50 PLN are available at the official website of The Baltic Opera in Gdansk.
There is still a possibility to enjoy guided tours around the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdansk. The tours are both in Polish and English and take 60 minutes. Tickets are available online as well as in ticket offices of the theatre.
The original anatomy exhibition is open in Metropolia mall. Body Worlds is a set of exhibits presenting the details of human anatomy by professor Gunther von Hagens. The tickets cost from 45 PLN to 65 PLN and are available both online and at the entrance to the exhibition.
Friday
Mewa Towarzyska club in Sopot opens the list of events around the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in Tricity. The party is in cooperation with Jameson Irish Whiskey, so the fans of this brand will not miss their favorite drinks at the bar. The event starts from 10 pm.
Saturday
Different clubs around Tricity will turn green on Saturday due to St. Patrick’s Day. Ygrek club in Gdansk invites for a party with green beer. Another club which joins the celebration is Autsajder club in Gdansk. The club offers green beer and invites to wear green to celebrate the Polish-Irish friendship. The party claims to be the most green event in the city. Students enter for free, all others pay 10 PLN. Both parties start at 9:00 pm.
Sunday
Fans of classical music may enjoy the concert of 10 tenors in Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk. Ten singers from Poland and Ukraine will perform the biggest opera and musical hits as well as some popular music. The unique concert starts at 7:00 pm. The tickets in prices from 100 PLN to 140 PLN are available online through the official website of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic.
The weekend in Tricity will conclude with yet another green party, this time in Gdynia. Contrast Cafe invites for an open concert of sailor’s music with inspirations in Irish folk. The concert starts at 8 pm.
