In Gdynia, Sport

Teams represented by two strong birds met last Saturday at the stadium in Gdynia. Seahawks Gdynia faced Tychy Falcons at their home bird nest – National Rugby Stadium in front of some 500 fans. The team from Tricity won with the guests spectacularly with the final score 56:15.

Strong hit from the beginning

Seahawks Gdynia dominated the game from the very beginning. In the earliest part of the game the defense team forced Falcons to lose yards and punt. Shortly after that, the offense team stroke and Pawel Henicz scored the touchdown after a precise pass from Joseph Bradley. The first quarter was definitely a show of high passing skills of the QB from Gdynia. Next points were scored by 25 year old wide receiver Jakub Mazan. Tychy got their opportunity to score in the fist quarter and they used it well. Pawel Tomaszewski got into the end zone after 42-yard action initiated by Shane Truelove. Seahawks were though still in the adrenaline rush and shortly after they lost their first points, Joseph Bradley passed a long and precise ball to Jakub Mazan. The WR caught this long ball and scored the touchdown ending the first quarter with a score 21:8.

After the change of sites, the spectators could see an incredible play which reminded the performance of Seahawks Seattle and Oakland Riders RB – Marshawn Lynch. Jan Domagala turned his Beast Mode on and ran 27 yards pushing away Falcon’s defense. Still in the second quarter, Jakub Mazan scored his third touchdown of the game after another good pass from Joseph Bradley. As a result, the first half ended with a score 35:8.

Second Half

In the early stage of the second half, the Polish Beast Mode showed his skills once again. This time Jan Domagala ran 61 yards. Seahawks Gdynia scored one more touchdown in the third quarter. This time it was Gawel Pilachowski who showed his skills as a running back. Seahawks Gdynia entered the last part of the game with a total domination over Tychy Falcons and the score 49:8.

In the fourth quarter Gawel Pilachowski performed a 35-yard run scoring the touchdown for Seahawks. Tychy Falcons got one more opportunity to cheer those few fans, who loyally traveled with them to Gdynia. After a pass from Shane Truelove, Grzegorz Dominik scored the last points of the game. The match in Gdynia ended with a result 56:15 for Seahawks Gdynia.

MVP

Seeing Sunday’s performance of Seahawks Gdynia, it wasn’t easy to choose the MVP. Fans enjoyed very good and precise passes from QB Joseph Bradley as well as incredible catches and runs performed by WR Jakub Mazan. It was though Jan Domagala who impressed everyone with his Beast Mode runs. He worked hard to smash through the defense of Falcons and made his way to the MVP title.

Entering play-offs

That was the last game of the main season for both teams. Seahawks Gdynia are currently second in the league and Tychy Falcons finish the main season at the fifth position. The season enters slowly into play-off round. If Seahawks Gdynia remain second in the table, they will face Panthers Wroclaw for a place in the semi-finals. Falcons are going to play in one of the Wild Card matches to try to enter semi-finals.

The 2017 season of PLFA will finish on 25th of June with a Super Final in Lodz.
