Saturdays match in Gdynia was meant to be the biggest game of the first round of PLFA (Polish League of American Football). Seahawks Gdynia were playing a home match against Panthers Wroclaw. The team from Tricity lost painfully with a score 7:35.
High motivation before the game
Seahawks Gdynia were highly motivated before the game with Panthers Wroclaw. The team from the south of Poland is one of the biggest rivals of the Seahawks. Additionally, the whole team and coaches were working hard to prepare for the 2017 season. Coach Maciej Cetnerowski mentioned during the press conference on Friday, that the Black & Yellows want to fight for the highest goals, including the PLFA Championship.
Difficult start
Although motivation was high, it wasn’t enough this time to fight against the Panthers. From the very beginning of the game the team from Wroclaw played very well offensively. The Seahawks couldn’t resist their attacks and Panthers got two touchdowns. The second move resulting with points was spectacular, as the Panthers gained 63 yards ending with a touchdown. The score after the first quarter was 0:14.
The second quarter wasn’t very contrasting. The Panthers were playing very well and they kept on gaining yards and getting touchdowns. Seahawks went into the half-time losing 0:28.
Second half without a turn-over
Throughout the second half Panthers scored only one more touchdown in the third quarter. Seahawks showed their claws only at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Jakub Mazan scored a touchdown.
Panthers were visibly better throughout the whole game, but Black & Yellows are not giving up so quickly. Seahawks’ manager Michal Radelicki said after the game that the team is not losing the spirit and the initial loss exposed the areas needing improvement. Coaches are already working to prepare to the next game.
900 supporters gathered at the National Rugby Stadium in Gdynia to watch the game.

The next game Seahawks Gdynia will play is an away match on Saturday, April the 1st with Husaria Szczecin. The week after that, the team goes to Białystok to meet with a very strong team dubbed Lowlanders Białystok.
