On Wednesday at noon Seahawks Gdynia hosted journalists from Tricity at a press conference. During the meeting, team’s head coach – Maciej Cetnerowski addressed the readiness of the Hawks for the season. Two American players – Joseph Bradley (QB) and James Gales JR (FS) accompanied the coach at the conference.
Read for the season
All representatives of the team underlined that this year, the Hawks had more time to prepare for the season. This is thanks to the longer break between seasons due to The World Games in Wroclaw last year. As a result, the team has built an anticipation of matches which motivates them for high performance from the very beginning. Players, as well as the management awaits the season in excitement, as there are new experiences awaiting for Seahawks this year.
New league and international cup
In our recent article about Seahawks Gdynia, we wrote about the changes in the Polish League of American Football. We also wrote about the participation of the team in CEFL Cup. Especially the latter attracts a lot of attention and emotions. As Maciej Cetnerowski underlined, the team comes back to international competitions after 9 years of break. The minimal plan for now is to win with their first opponent – Budapest Cowboys. There is however one more, very important goal for the Hawks this year. After losing the final to Panthers Wroclaw last year, in 2018 Seahawks want to come back to the final and hopefully bring the championship to Gdynia again.
Promoting the sport
Seahawks Gdynia pay a lot of attention to promoting American football in Poland. Apart from playing games on a high level, they engage in community projects and visit schools to share knowledge about the sport.
American football is developing very well in Poland. Though it still is far less popular than football or volleyball, the growing popularity of the sport is visible. When Seahawks were starting in 2005, the players had their practices at the field and few fans were coming to their games. Throughout the 13 years, they managed to win Polish championship three times. The Hawks are attracting more and more spectators every year who come to cheer their favorite team. Seahawks Gdynia are also cooperating with the city hall in Gdynia, as well as different companies and organisations. One of the cooperation became a highlight of the press conference.

From this season, Black&Yellows are cooperating with BMG Goworowski – an official dealership of Mercedes-Benz. One of the fruits of the cooperation is the video promoting the team in 2018 season:
Maciej Cetnerowski underlined, that the team hopes the cooperation will continue on different levels including community projects.
Falcons for starters
In the first game of the season, The Hawks are going to welcome Tychy Falcons to their nest. The game on Saturday at noon will definitely bring a lot of emotions.
