In the wildcards round Seahawks Gdynia won against Husaria Szczecin 35:19. The match was though not an easy one for the team from Gdynia.
Early points, difficult quarter
Seahawks Gdynia were very confident entering the field against Husaria Szczecin. Jan Domagala (RB) scored the first touchdown for the hosts. Those were though the only points in the first quarter of the game. Husaria wasn’t an easy opponent and the defense of Seahawks had some troubles stopping their attacks.
In the second quarter Joseph Bradley (QB) threw a very good ball to Pawel Henicz (WR). As a result Seahawks got a comfortable lead. Husaria kept on fighting and they didn’t hesitate to score a touchdown after a good catch from Mateusz Dubicki. The first half ended with a score 14:6.
Second half
The third quarter was also marked by a good run performed by Seahawks Running back. This time it was Gawel Pilachowski. Thanks to his touchdown, the third quarter finished with a score 21:6.
In the last quarter of the game Husaria showed their spirit. The team from Szczecin knew they were still able to overturn the match. They pushed themselves into Seahawks’ end zone and gained points which gave them hope. Seahawks on the other hand wanted to show who rules in the bird nest in Gdynia. Joseph Bradley threw another spectacular ball which flew over 50 yards into hands of Jakub Mazan (WR). The receiver continued the run and scored a touchdown. Jan Domagala added one more touchdown to his list as well. As a result, the running back received the MVP of the game. Husaria managed to score one more touchdown and the match finished with a result 35:19 for Seahawks Gdynia.
Semi-finals for Seahawks Gdynia
Winning the game against Husaria allowed Seahawks to take part in semi-finals of the Polish American Football League. In this round, the team from Gdynia is going to meet with Lowlanders in Bialystok. In the other match of the semi-final round, Panthers Wroclaw will host Warsaw Eagles. All the teams are going to play on June the 10th.
The hopes are high and the team wants to play in the Super Final again. Seahawks Gdynia played in the Super Final six times already. Three times their performance ended with winning the national championship. Will the hawks repeat this success?
