School students showed their skills in the English Theatre Contest

One of the very important things leading to good, international communication is mastering a common language. The students from schools in Gdynia know this well and showed their skills during the English Theatre Contest – We Can Speak English 2019 last Friday. Tricity News had a pleasure to cooperate with the organizers of the event.

The contest has been organized for the 15th time. This year, it gathered 9 teams, each consisting of two representatives. The students were competing in two categories trying to show their best English and acting skills.

The biggest titles on the stage

While preparing for the contest, many students and their teachers decided to go big. As a result, we could see them recreating such titles as Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story, La la land or Blues Brothers on stage. Not much surprised, the jury had tough decisions to make, as the level of the competition was very high.

All won

Though the jury had to choose the best show as well as the best actors, all participants got their prizes. Their hard work along with many efforts of their teachers are definitely worth appreciation. Among the younger group won Maleficent – a touching interpretation of Sleeping Beauty. In the group of older students, the best show came to be Blues Brothers.

Teachers make a difference

This contest, as well as a visible passion for both acting and learning languages is in many cases thanks to the English teachers. Those who gathered at We Can Speak English contest last Friday definitely know how to inspire and find talents in their students. The effects of this were clearly visible during each performance.
