Open’er festival 2017 started – Be ready for anything

Sixteen years has passed since the first edition of the Open’er Festival. The festival still gathers a lot of people from all around the world. It’s one of the biggest festivals, not only in Poland but also in Europe. It takes place in Gdynia, at Kosakowo Airport. This year it started on the 28th of June and ends on the 1st of July.

Open’er festival 2017 headliners

In the past the festival hosted for example Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Jack White, Kings of Leon, and more. This year headliners are Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Weeknd and The XX. If you have to wait for a few hours for your favorite artist you don’t have to just chill on the grass. You can also go to the festival museum, to the theater or to the cinema.

One of the biggest stars will obviously be the headliners, Radiohead, who will definitely play some songs from the newest album “A Moon Shaped Pool” but you may also have a chance to hear such hit as “Karma Police”. Foo Fighters might also catch your attention, as they are one of the most important rock bands in the last years. The Weeknd, recently got a lot of attention because of their newest album “Starboy” and because of collaborations with Lana Del Rey. Last but not least The XX, which might be a favorite of many with their indie pop tunes.

Other artists and attractions

Other artists that will play at this year edition that are worth mentioning are Royal Blood, James Blake, Solange, Rae Sremmurd, Charlie XCX, G-Eazy, The Kills, M.I.A, Mac Miller, Warpaint, George Ezra, Lorde, Dua Lipa or Tyga.

Additional attractions prepared for the festival are: another edition of the theater — this year you’ll get a chance t watch three performances. Those interested in movies can go to the section of Alterkino which will show 20 productions. If you’re into fashion you can go to Fashion Stage and see collections of 10 talented polish brands. If you’re more of a museum geek, there will be an exhibition about women called “Chuliganki”(hooligans)

Tickets

Still interested in buying tickets? You probably will still have a chance—you can buy tickets for a whole festival (4 days) for 599 zloty, weekend ticket (for Friday and Saturday) for 399 or a one-day ticket for 239 zloty. If you want to travel there by train you can purchase a train tickets (SKM) for 40 zloty. All tickets can be bought from the official Open’er Festival 2017 page.
