Oliwa Park
As you probably have already guessed, Oliwa Park is a beautiful park in Gdańsk Oliwa area. It’s also one of the most amazing places you can visit in Gdansk.
It’s a perfect park to visit when you’re on a budget but want see some spectacular aspects of polish culture. So don’t wait any longer, come along with family and friends. The park is perfect for spending quality time over the summer but equally amazing moments during fall, winter and spring seasons.
During the winter months you can enjoy the fairy-tale atmosphere walking through the high hedges decorated from top to bottom with beautiful Christmas lights. It’s definitely an astonishing and mesmerizing view.
The park is full of fountains, trees, different types of flowers and benches on which you can relax. There is also a River flowing through the park.
History
This gorgeous place is also a symbol to polish culture. It began as a little garden by a monastery. After the abbot Franciszek Zaleski set up the new monastery at the end of the first half of the seventeenth century the garden grew. The monastery widened it south-western direction, touching the older monastery garden. Throughout the years many abbots have reconstructed and changed the garden.
In 1945, at the end of the war, the park was largely devastated. However luckily it was almost completely restored. The park was entered in the register of protection of natural monuments of Gdańsk province which was an important event.
In 1946, the Plant Acclimatization Station was established in the park. During the years 1952-1956, the Botanical Garden in Oliwa was founded. In 1956, the authorities named the park after Adam Mickiewicz, one of Poland’s most famous writers.

Opening hours in the park are 5:00-23:00 monday to sunday. There are many trams, buses and trains that stop minutes away from this wonderful place.
