Lechia wins after nervous game

Today’s game between Lechia Gdansk and Piast Gliwice ended with 3:2 score. The match was very leveled and for some time it seemed that it will be Piast, which will come back from Gdansk with 3 points.

Equally after first half

Early goal for Lechia was scored in 10th minute by Slawomir Peszko, but it wasn’t long until Piast leveled thanks to Uros Korun in 28th minute. During the first half 2 players in each team got booked by the referee for their fouls.

Nervous second half

The score in the second half was opened by Sasa Zivec, who scored for Piast in 64th minute. Though Lechia had much higher ball possession, they managed to level in 79th minute, when  Flavio Paixao scored the penalty. 7 minutes later, Paixao added one more goal and set the score for 3:2 for the home team.

Match no. 100 for Paixao

Flavio Paixao entered the game in 46th minute and it was him, who led Lechia to success. It was game no. 100 in Polish Extra league for this Portuguese forward. Together with Polish middlefielder Slawomir Peszko, he had a huge impact on the performance of white and greens today.

Lechia leads in the league

After today’s match, Lechia stayed at the 1st place in the table, but they strenghtened their position being now 4 points in front of the second team – Jagiellonia Bialystok.
