Lechia Gdansk managed to get a null at home with Cracovia. Thia result left White&Greens five points away from relegation zone. Arka Gdynia lost 3-1 to Sandecja Nowy Sącz. Despite the score, Arka still remains second in the relegation play-off of Ekstraklasa.
Lechia Gdansk – Cracovia
Lechia Gdansk stays away from the relegation zone after a home draw with Cracovia on Monday. White&Greens played with substitute keeper Oliver Zelenika. Dusan Kucia completed a series of four yellow cards last game and had to rest.
Good beginning from Lechia
Gdansk’s team could have had an early advantage when Flavio Paixao put the ball in the net in the 15th minute. However, the referee, after consulting VAR, spotted that the Portuguese player had benefitted from an offside position to score.
Eleven minutes after, Lechia was near the goal again. Patryk Lipski executed a free kick well passing to Steven Vitoria, but that keeper Peskovic saved.
Second half
Cracovia’s response came only in the second half with a wide shot by Covilo in the 51st minute. Permissive defence of Lechia allowed the Bosnian player to shot with no pressure in this situation.
Lechia pressured Cracovia’s goal once again with no success three minutes later. Peszko was in good position to shoot a goal, but he did not do better than hitting his opponent and not the ball. Also in the 68thminute home team could have done better when Haraslin was faster than Cracovia defenders. He overcame an away team defender in a great style but shot over the bar failing the goal.
In the final minutes of the game, Cracovia was stronger and could have reached the advantage. Ten minutes before the end Piatek tried, but Steven Vitoria’s effort proved vital for Cracovia not to score. In the added time, Lechia’s defense was soft again allow allowing Rakels to shot to goal. Latvian player’s shot was too weak though and Zelenika was able to save, maintaining the result in the null.
Sandecja Nowy Sacz – Arka Gdynia
Sandecja had the first occasion in the 21st minute after a good shot by Piszczek. The goal however came only in the start of the second half. In the 50th minute Patryk Mraz executed a header which landed on Zbozien’s foot. The unfortunate touch directed the ball into the goal right next to Steinbors.
Arka equalised in the 72nd minute when a great cross by Pieslo found Esqueda completely unmarked. The Mexican player, entered seven minutes before, headed the ball and gave no chance to keeper Gliwa.
In an absolute need for points, the home team didn’t quit and got the advantage again in the last minute after an own goal by Warcholak. In the dying seconds of added time, Adrian Danek, who came into the game a few minutes before, closed the result beating Steinbors for the third time.
