How to spend the weekend in Tricity? – It is a series of articles on Tricity News. We publish information about upcoming events for each weekend. From a great variety of different events happening in the area every week, we are choosing those which in our opinion are the most interesting and English-friendly. Here are our ideas for the weekend of 22-24 March. Make sure to scroll all the way down to our special invitation for expats.
Whole Weekend
A family picnic near Energa Stadium Gdansk will inaugurate the streetfood season. The biggest food truck gathering – Jemy Na Stadionie (We Eat at the Stadium) will take place this weekend. Starting on Friday, the 22nd of March, the food trucks will wait for all hungry ones. Almost 70 different trucks will feed the guests at the P4 parking. The event will last until Sunday and it will be open all days from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Saturday is the last day of the International Fair of Amber, Jewllery and Gemstones Amberif 2019. The event takes place at Amber Expo near Energa Stadium Gdansk. The event is the most important amber exhibition in Central and Eastern Europe. It brings together 470 exhibitors and some 6,000 trade visitors from 54 countries. There is still a possibility to enjoy guided tours around the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdansk. The tours are both in Polish and English and take 60 minutes. Tickets are available online as well as in ticket offices of the theatre.
The original anatomy exhibition is open in Metropolia mall. Body Worlds is a set of exhibits presenting the details of human anatomy by professor Gunther von Hagens. The tickets cost from 45 PLN to 65 PLN and are available both online and at the entrance to the exhibition.
Friday
Wydzial Remontowy club in Gdansk invites for Tribute to Faith No More concert. The event will start at 8:30 pm and the tickets are available for 20 PLN at the entrance to the club.
Saturday
Emigrations Museum in Gdynia invites for Gdynia Language Swap event from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The meeting is a good opportunity to get to know other foreigners living in Tricity, but also to learn some words in other languages.
Bollywood Lounge club in Gdynia invites for Holi Party. The event inspired by the Indian holiday will start at 9:00 pm. Be ready for some colorful powders flying in the air that night.
The Musical Theatre in Gdynia invites for a unique event. On Saturday at 10 pm we will be able to visit the Theatre by night. The organizers prepared many attractions, so all those who would like to know how the theatre looks like from the backstage should definitely come. More information in the link below.
Depeche Mode fans may enjoy visiting Protokultura club in Gdansk. The event Depeche Mode Night will start at 10 pm and tickets are available for 10 to 20 PLN at the entrance to the club.
Sunday
If you still feel the green vibe after St. Patrick’s day, you can’t miss Beltaine & Glendalough show in Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre. The artists combine Irish folk music and dance while experimenting with music which creates an unforgettable experience. The event will take place on Sunday at 7:00 pm and the tickets are available at the official website of the Theatre in prices starting from 40 PLN.
Sport
Trefl Gdansk invites for the last match of the main phase of the season. The volleyball game between the team from Tricity and MKS Bedzin will take place on Saturday at 5:30 pm in Ergo Arena. Come and see the quarter-finalists of CEV Champions League in action! Tickets are available through the official website of the club as well as at Ergo Arena before the game.
Handball fans may enjoy Baltic Handball Cup at Physical Education Academy in Gdansk. Women’s national teams of Argentina, Island, Slovakia, and Poland, as well as second teams of Spain, Romania, and Finland will compete. The event lasts the whole weekend and the entrance costs 11 – 20 PLN. Both the schedule and tickets are available at the official website of the Polish Handball Association.
