How to spend the weekend in Tricity? – It is a series of articles on Tricity News. We publish information about upcoming events for each weekend. From a great variety of different events happening in the area every week, we are choosing those which in our opinion are the most interesting and English-friendly.
Making a decision about plans for this weekend is a true challenge. It’s incredible how many differential events are happening during these several days. No way that you won’t find something interesting for yourself! Here are some of the most up-and-coming ideas:
Sport
As always Tricity presents multiple sports events, especially for runners. One of the most remarkable classics is Runmageddon – extremely hard run with obstacles. If you just began your journey with this sport – don’t worry! Routes are divided based on the level of advancement so you’ll find something for yourself. If you aren’t a runner at all you can also enjoy this event – supporters are incredibly important so organizers created many attractions for them too.
There are three different routes for adults and two for children:
- INTRO – 3 km with 15 obstacles
- RECRUIT – 6 km with 30 obstacles
- CLASSIC – 12 km with 50 obstacles
- NIGHT RECRUIT – even more than normal amount of emotions during running in the darkness
- KIDS – route for 4-11 years old children – 1 km, 10 obstacles
- JUNIOR – older kids will also find something for them: 2 km long rout with obstacles
The event takes place in Gdynia Orłowo – al. Zwycięstwa 291 on whole Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost from 50 to 300 zlotys.
Additionally, our partners – Seahawks Gdynia are warmly inviting to support them in their efforts to get into the Polish Bowl. The wildcard game between the team from Tricity and Opole Towers will take place on Saturday the 8th, at 5 pm. The stadium of Ogniwo Sopot will be a venue this time.
Photography
If you haven’t been to the exhibition “Jewellery and Glass” by SPTF in Tryton Business House but you love unconventional pictures taken by true photography freaks – there’s definitely something to catch up. Free admission for 24H/7 – no excuses! The exhibition will be over on the 25th of June.
Food
Chocolate, Coffee and Sweets Festival sounds like a heaven for gourmets. Chocolate fountains, baristas’ shows, cooking workshops, professional artists of confectionary, sweet tastings and chocolate spa. Continuation of describing is pointless, isn’t it? This event takes place in Stary Maneż on Juliusza Słowackiego 23 in Gdańsk from 11 am. to 6 pm on 9th June. Ticket costs 5-15 zlotys.
Music
This weekend will be filled to capacity by concerts. One of the most longed-for is XVI Gdynia Blues Festival 2019 in the plaza between Coastal Boulevard and Pilsudski street. On Thursday in Blues Club will be playing famous Neil Wide & Forsal. Tickets cost 60 zlotys. From Friday 7th to Sunday 9th at 4 – 11 pm. you can enjoy free performances of e.g. Caramel Band, The Road Dogs, Chris King Robinson, Freight Train Rabbit Killer or Carlos Johnson & Hoodo Band.
Fans of classical music will be satisfied as well. At 6 pm. on Sunday Chinese artists – Xiao Wei Guo and Neng Yi Chen will play the fortepiano during “Solo and as a duet” concert in Sierakowcy Mansion on Józefa Czyżewskiego 12 in Sopot for free. This event is organized by the Association of Sopot’s Friends (Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Sopotu).
Others
If you love feeling beautiful scents around you this Saturday you’ll have an amazing opportunity to experience a new definition of perfume during “Smells Like”. The event composed of lectures, talks, and scents bazaar is happening at 3-8 pm. in Luks Sfera in Gdańsk. Address: Elektryków 132B. Admission is free.
