It was a good start to the season for the Yellow&Blues. 3 points stayed home after Arka Gdynia’s victory over Slask Wroclaw on Sunday afternoon.
Aggressive beginning
The first half of the match was dominated by numerous… fouls. Arka players were playing very aggressive, often using fouls to stop Slask attacks. They committed 15 fouls in the first 45 minutes.
Slask lacked accuracy in their attempts. Arka on the other hand had 2 opportunities to score. In the 1st minute Piesio tried to score after a corner and in the 18th Sambea tried to score from distance but both shots were caught by Slask’s goalkeeper.
After the break
During the break coach Ojrzynski decided for the first substitution. Michal Nalepa changed Marcus Da Silva.
The second half was more interesting and both teams had their chances to score. In 50th minute Kun passed the ball to Siemaszko but his header went over the bar. 6 minutes later Nalepa’s shot was blocked by one of Slask’s defenders. In 69th minute, over 10,000 fans gathered at the Miejski Stadion in Gdynia, saw Adam Marciniak’s beautiful cross after which Patryk Kun’s header gave Arka the lead.
Slask’s players were clearly irritated with the lost goal that was why they decided to play more risky. But playing risky did not pay off, as in 78th minute they made a mistake. Michal Nalepa took the ball and after 50 yards rally, passed Slask’s defenders and with cold blood defeated Wrabel.
Both goals were very similar to those scored by Arka in the final of the Polish Cup against Lech Poznan.
