Portugal coach believes that Saturday’s match against Serbia will not end goalless. This game is opening participation for both teams in UEFA Under 21 European Championship. Serbia’s coach noted that his team will pay much attention to Portugal´s attack.

Group B – Bydgoszcz and Gdynia

Portugal will face Serbia on Saturday in Bydgoszcz in the first game of Group B of UEFA Under 21 European Championship. Three other games of this group are taking place in Gdynia.

Both teams like to attack

Undefeated in five years in official games and only having conceded two draws during qualification’s 10 games, Portugal coach previews that game with Serbia will have goals as both teams “like to attack“.

During Friday’s pre-match press conference held in Bydgoszcz, former Sporting and FC Porto’s player also underlined that “the most important thing for both teams is not to lose the first match“.

Rui Jorge also underlined, that only the first place in Group B will have a place in semi-finals of UEFA Under 21 European Championship. Additionally, he praised the quality of Serbian players: Maksimovic, Lukic, Djurdjevic, not forgetting Zivkovic, that plays for Portuguese club Benfica.

Serbia is aware of the danger

On the hand, Serbia’s coach said he is aware of Portuguese “very good individual players“. He also underlined the danger that Portugal may present to his team. This danger is “a very dangerous attack” of Under 21 vice-European champions.

If a team doesn’t lose for more than five years we cannot talk about their weakness in defense. Their attack is playing well at the moment, so I think we have to pay a lot of attention to it“, added Nenad Lalatovic, also speaking in Bydgoszcz”.

Other games of both teams

Serbia will play the remaining two games in Group B against Spain and Macedonia in Bydgoszcz. Portugal move to Gdynia after Saturday’s game and face these opponents in Stadion Miejski w Gdyni.
