Time to get to know sailing – Baltic Sail Gdansk

The Baltic Sail is an agreement behind Kłajpeda, Gdańsk, Rostock, Karlskrona, Szczecin, Nysted and Ryga. The goal of this agreement is sailing communities integration. The goal is to share marine traditions of Baltic Sea. In 2017 is the twenty first edition of the event. The ports of the Baltic Sail organize Sailing Days every year. It takes place in Gdansk from the 29th of June to the 2nd of July.
The Education Zone
This zone is located on a tent hall at the parking area of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic. There is a lot of maritime workshops, activities as well as prize competitions for kids and youths. Children can sing and dance to the tune of shanties. The educational zone is available during the whole Baltic Sail.
The Sailing Ships Zone
Sailing Ships Zone is on Olowianka Island and Wartka street. If you want, you can take part in sailing on the Bay of Gdańsk. You can also visit sailing ships which will be moored at the quay. There is a sport competition – regatta. On the 1st of July at 11 P.M. you can see fireworks and on the 2nd at 12 A.M. – sailing ships parade on Motlawa River.
The Music Zone
At the Main Stage, on 30th of June from 5 P.M. to 7.15 P.M. you can enjoy listening to the winners of “Shanties in the window” contest. After that performance concerts of “Shanties under the Crane” festival and will take place until the 1st of July, 11 P.M.
The Water Activity Zone
You can find it nearby MRKS (Olowianska street 3a). People can rent kayaks, pedal boats and small yachts. You can also just spend time on a specially prepared beach.
