The city of sea and dreams
Though Gdynia is the youngest in Tricity, it has a very interesting history. You can find out more about it in our last year’s articles. First written records about parts of the city date back to 1200s. The peak of the development came in the 1920s and 1930s.
After 93 years since obtaining the city charter, Gdynia is still modern and developing. A unique city center attracts fans of modernist architecture.
Many attractions
On Saturday, the City Hall invited the elderly inhabitants of the city to join them in Gdynia Arena. This will be a fantastic opportunity to share their memories, but also to take care of their health. The peak of the event will be a concert by VOX.
This is however not the only thing to do in connection with the 94th anniversary of the city charter. Cultural Consulate in Gdynia invites for an exhibition of photography. The event will tell a story of the city from the perspective of the artist – Andrzej Jastrzembski. The exhibition starts at 6:00 pm.
Additionally, there will be a show of the archive movies from the 20s which depicted Gdynia. This will take place in Gdynia City Museum at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
Sunday
More attractions in the museum await on Sunday. There will be meetings with artists, openings of new exhibitions and other attractions. The attractions start at 11:00 am and continue throughout the day.
Monday
The celebrations will conclude on Monday, the 10th of February. First, the local authorities will place flowers at Maritime Poland’s monument at noon.
At 6:00 pm the local authorities will meet again for a special city council meeting in the City Theatre in Gdynia. They will award special efforts for the city as well as for the best investments.
