Art Exhibition: Best ASP Diplomas 2019
August 2 - September 8Free
The annual art exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts students’ most notable works is coming to Gdańsk once again!
The Academy of Fine Arts
The Academy of Fine Arts [ASP] in Gdańsk, founded in 1945, is the biggest artistic Academy in northern Poland. It is a place for young artists to nurture their talent and, ultimately, bring them closer to pursuing their dream profession. With this in mind, they hosted the Best ASP Diplomas exhibition in 2009 for the first time. The event has met with huge success and is now a staple in the city’s cultural scene.
What is It All About?
The exhibition, coming to Gdańsk for the 11th time, is all about the promotion of striving, talented Polish artists. Here, the Academy’s best graduates from all over the country will have the opportunity to showcase their works to a wider audience, helping them jumpstart their careers.
The Grand Opening will take place in the Academy of Fine Arts building on August 2nd, followed by a discussion panel under the theme “The Hopes of Art: New Artistic Realities in Clash with Life”. Later, the full exhibition will be available in the Armoury of Arts in the city’s Old Town until September 8th. All parts of the event are open to the public.
As in previous editions, there is a competitive side to it all – the most outstanding pieces will be awarded. Thanks to the cooperation with the Gdańsk City Gallery, one lucky artist will have the chance to organize his or her own exhibition there in the following year.
The event can be divided into two parts that will take place in different locations:
- Auditorium of The Academy of Fine Arts building in Gdańsk [02.08.2019]
12:00 p.m: Grand Opening, award ceremony.
1:30 p.m: Discussion panel between art critics.
- Armory of Arts in Gdańsk [03.08-08.09.2019]
Full exhibition open for visiting; every day from 11:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
Both parts of the event are free of charge.
