Arka Gdynia – Drutex-Bytovia Bytów

In the second leg of quarter-final of Polish Cup, Arka Gdynia will play a home match with Drutex-Bytovia Bytów. The first match was lost 1:2, but the players still have hope in advancing to the semi-final of the cup.
Polish Cup is a tournament for Polish football teams. The Cup was founded in 1925 and is held continuously since 1950. After the Lotto Ekstraklasa league, the cup is the second most important competition in Poland. The team which is holding the highest amount of championships within the Polish Cup is Legia Warsaw which won the cup 18 times. This is far more than the second team on the list – Górnik Zabrze which won 6 times.
Arka Gdynia SSA
The club was established in 1929 and at first it existed as sports club for work class. In 1952 the club started to exist with the word “ARKA” in it’s name.
For years Arka Gdynia has been a proudly supported by many citizens of Gdynia. The club won the Polish Cup in 1979 and was a few time in the semi-final of this tournament. The highest place in the top Polish league was gained in 1978 when Arka Gdynia ended up at the 7th place.
Season 16/17 is an important come-back to the highest league. After 5 year of being in the lower league, Arka came back to the group of top Polish football teams.
Arka Gdynia plays at the city stadium in Gdynia. The stadium is located at Olimpijska street, which is close to Redłowo SKM train station. The stadium has a capacity of more than 15.000 people and it is the home ground of Arka. In the 16/17 season of Ekstraklasa, this ground was unconquered for 5 first home matches being called “the stronghold of Gdynia”.
The tickets for matches cost from around 20 PLN to 120 PLN (VIP ticket) for adults. Kids up to 4 years old enter matches for free. There are also discounts for kids and teenagers until the age of 18. The tickets are 5 PLN more expensive at the match day.
