20 years of Sopot Dance Theatre

A celebration of the 20th anniversary of Sopot Dance Theater begins on November 29th! On this occasion, the theater has prepared lots of attractions for art lovers.

Sopot Dance Theatre

Two choreographers – Joanna Czajkowska and Jacek Krawczyk established Sopot Dance Theatre in 1998. Since that year, the theatre has produced fifty shows. It has also participated in various modern dance festivals and alternative theatres festivals in Poland as well as abroad.

Both creators of the Sopot Dance Theatre have received many prestigious prizes for their work. They do their best to create a theatre combining intellectual, visual and movement values.

Programme

Sopot Dance Theatre has prepared three days full of dance attractions for all the participants. The celebration will include workshops, shows as well as open rehearsal.

Thursday

Open Day at Sopot Dance Theatre
10:00 – 11:45 – professional workshops with SDT dancers
12:00 – 13:00 – open rehearsal of “The Last Floor” show

Friday

19:00 – Sopot Dance Theatre dancers will present the premiere of “The Last Floor” show. The director of the show is Joanna Czajkowska. The performance refers to films by the Singaporean director Erik Khoo. In his films, including “12 floors”, “Mee Pok Man” and “Be with me”, Khoo talks about the loneliness of people living in big cities and about their attempts to overcome it.

Saturday

19:00 – “Collage” – Dancers will present fragments of selected performances from the history of Sopot Dance Theatre. Jacek Krawczyk is the author of the idea for the show.

20:30 – “Podarki and Wypominki” (eng. “Gifts and Remindings” – performance evening by STD artists.

Sunday

19:00 – Master Dance Workshops, or surprises from afar: STT dancers who are currently working abroad will share their experience. Iwona Gilarska and Magdalena Wójcik will conduct the workshops.
