Arka Gdynia won 2:0 against Śląsk Wrocław and will spend the winter break on the 8th place in the Ekstraklasa table.
Domination built
In the first half both Arka and Śląsk had their chances to score a goal. Arka could have lead but ball after Siemaszko’s shot only hit the bar. With each minute Arka was gaining more and more advantage and confidence. Śląsk, on the other hand was making more and more mistakes in the defense. The goalless result in the first 45 minutes didn’t change though.
Determined to win
After the last match Yellow&Blues wanted to prove their worth and bring 3 points back to Gdynia, that’s why they showed a lot of determination in the second half. This resulted in a free kick in 57th minute. After Hofbauer’s excellent cross, Marcus da Silva passed the ball to Siemaszko who scored his 4th goal for Arka in Ekstraklasa. Siemaszko showed once again what he has the best – his instinct. Śląsk’s defense must have been in a huge shock, because 3 minutes later, this time after a corner and Hofbauer’s pass Michał Marcjanik scored his second goal this season and Arka was leading 2:0. Śląsk seemed to be completely destroyed and had no idea how to defeat Jałocha. Arka was playing just like at the beginning of the season with a high pressing and huge intensity.
Coming back home with 3 points
Well deserved 3 points are coming back to Gdynia. Coach Niciński after the match was congratulating his team on this important victory ‘We were aware that this match wouldn’t be easy, but we were well organized and very ambitious. I want to thank my players for this year – 1. League, Ekstraklasa, Polish Cup. This was a good year for us. Now we can relax and come back after the break and keep fighting to keep Ekstraklasa in Gdynia’.
