Since October, Alter Art is treating us with announcements about headliners of Open’er Festival 2018. We already know about Gorillaz and Bruno Mars, Depeche Mode as well as six more well known, international artists. Yesterday, the organizers shared with us another treat. The next headliner are Arctic Monkeys.
Open’er Festival
Open’er Festival is an annual music holiday taking place in Gdynia since 2003. The first editions took place at Kosciuszki Square. Soon the area became too small though and the festival moved to Babie Doly-Kosakowo airport. During those years Open’er hosted the world’s biggest music stars such as Prince, Coldplay, Sex Pistols, Muse, Placebo and many more. The festival is open to a variety of music styles and became a unique event gathering thousands of fans. The previous edition of the festival assembled some 120.000 people who often traveled long distances to get to Tricity. We are sure Open’er Festival 2018 will also attract a huge number of music fans.
Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys began their international career in 2006 debuting with an album “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s Why I’m Not”. This was the fastest-selling debut in the history of British music. For this material Arctic Monkeys received many awards including the Best Album of 2006.
Although they started with beating records, they never focused on that. Their style shows clearly that Arctic Monkeys are all about authenticity and being themselves. Many call them the best band England has produced over the past 20 years.
Since their debut in 2006, the band has produced 4 more albums. Their last one AM came out in 2013. The band had a short break in playing concerts, however they are back on tour in 2018. Fans who will come to Open’er Festival 2018 will see the British band exactly 5 years after their last Polish concert.
The band is going to enter the stage in Gdynia on Wednesday, July 4th, 2018!
