This year, over 8 summer movie theatres will be set up around the three cities, offering options even for the pickiest cinephiles. We created this guide to help you find the most interesting choices in your area – and trust us, there is a lot to choose from.

GDAŃSK

Being the largest city, it comes off as no surprise that Gdańsk offers a vast selection of screenings. They are all set up in various locations and neighborhoods:

Cinema on Shakespeare’s Theatre [3.07-14.08.2019]

The open-air cinema at the famous Shakespeare’s Theatre is back with an impressive selection of critically-acclaimed international movies.

Where? Rooftop at the Shakespeare’s Theatre in Gdańsk.
When? Every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:30 PM.

Movie Evenings at Wyspa Sobieszewska [September 2019]

Sponsored by the city of Gdańsk, movie evenings at Wyspa Sobieszewska aim to bring the local community together through films.

Where? Various locations around Wyspa Sobieszewska.
When? 1st, 7th and 21st of September at 7:30 PM.

Kino w Blokowisku [September 2019]

A small open-air cinema located between the blocks of flats in Gdańsk. The movie list has not been announced yet.

Where? Next to the GAK Projektornia building at Dworska street.
When? Every Friday in September at 7:30 PM.

Gdańska Fala Filmowa [September 2019]

The event will screen two movies in two different locations in Gdańsk in September.

GDYNIA

The selection of film-related events in Gdynia is equally remarkable. Outdoor cinemas will be set up in four locations:

Summer Cinema in Orłowo [1.07-12.08]

The 9th edition of the annual Summer Cinema in Orłowo will offer multiple award-winning movies from all around the world.

Where? Orłowo beach, entrance no. 17
When? Every Monday and Tuesday at 9 PM.
Tickets: 12zł per screening. Tickets available online and directly at the event.

Summer Cinema by Kino Polska [28.06-21.09]

A summer cinema set up by Kino Polska, a TV movie channel. The event focuses on Polish films, highlighting the notable works of acclaimed directors. Sadly, no English subtitles will be available.

Where? Grunwaldzki Square in Gdynia.
When? Every Friday from 9 PM until 13.09. Every day at 8 PM during the Gdynia Film Festival.

Kino Plenerowe na Dąbrowie i Karwinach [5.07-24.08]

Two cinemas set up in the Dąbrowa and Karwiny neighborhoods in Gdynia. The event is created by locals for locals and is supported by the city council. There will be something for everyone – from movie hits, such as “Green Book”, to children’s favorites like “Hotel Transylvania 3”.

Where? Karwiny: amphitheater at Elementary School no. 4 (Chwaszczyńska 26 street); Dąbrowa: Elementary School no. 47 (Nagietkowa 73 street)
When? Fridays in Karwiny, Saturdays in Dąbrowa. Hours of screenings vary.

SOPOT

This year, Sopot seems to be rather humble with its summer cinemas. At the time of writing just one event has been announced:

Kino Letnie Sopot-Zakopane [1.07-31.08]

This cinema will present movies daily for the course of July and August. Each day has a different theme, including “Family Tuesdays”, “Festival Thursdays”, “Oscar Saturdays”, and more.

Where? The Molo pier in Sopot.
When? Every day for the course of July and August. Hours vary.
Tickets: Movie screenings are free of charge. A ticket to the Molo is required, however, as it is needed to enter the area.
